Inscriptions on this side of the coin include "FAMOUS BATTLES IN HISTORY," "THERMOPYLAE," "1 OZ 999 SILVER," and the year of issue, "2009," signifying the coin's theme, weight, purity, and year of minting.
- On the reverse side, the coin features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, a common feature on coins from Tuvalu, the issuing country.
