2009 Tuvalu $1 Famous Battles in History: Cannae 216BC - 1 oz Fine Silver Coin

The Tuvalu 1 Oz. Silver 2009 Famous Battles in History - Cannae coin is a remarkable numismatic tribute to one of the most pivotal and strategically significant battles in ancient history, the Battle of Cannae. This coin series, dedicated to famous battles, offers collectors a tangible connection to historical events that shaped the world. The Battle of Cannae took place in 216 BC during the Second Punic War between Rome and Carthage. It was a decisive confrontation that unfolded near the town of Cannae in Apulia, Italy. The Carthaginian general Hannibal Barca employed a brilliant tactical maneuver, the double envelopment, which encircled and annihilated a vastly superior Roman force. Hannibal's victory at Cannae is considered one of the greatest tactical masterpieces in military history. This coin series, "Famous Battles in History," pays homage to such significant moments, allowing collectors to connect with the past and the enduring lessons of strategy and warfare.
