The Diamond Jubilee
On 6th February 1952, following the death of her father, the man Elizabeth herself had seen crowned King in 1937, the young princess was proclaimed Queen at the tender age of 25. In front of 8,000 invited guests, she was officially crowned Queen in Westminster Abbey on 2nd June 1953 in an ancient ceremony rich in history and pageantry.
In 1977, Her Majesty celebrated her Silver Jubilee and in 2002 her Golden Jubilee. Today, Queen Elizabeth II is officially the second longest serving monarch behind Queen Victoria who reigned for 64 years. In 2013, the Queen will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of her Coronation.

The largest sword in the collection, this is borne in front of the Sovereign by the Lord Great Chamberlain during the Coronation
(2) The Imperial State Crown
Worn by the newly-crowned Sovereign at the end of the Coronation service.
(3) St Edward's Crown
Known as the official Coronation Crown, this is the crown with which the new Sovereign is crowned.
