The one-dollar coin in the 2015 Specimen Set of Canadian coins features a reverse image by Canadian artist Edward Spera. Perched majestically on a tree branch, the blue jay is enjoying a beautiful sunny day in a natural setting. Viewed from the rear, its distinctive spotted plumage along its wings and broad tail are prominently displayed. Always inquisitive, the blue jay has its head turned to the right, which affords the viewer a glimpse of its facial features and distinctive crest atop the blue jay’s head.
