1952 TWO WATER LINES Canada $1 Voyageur Silver Dollar Coin ICCS Graded AU-55

One Dollar - 80% Silver - George VI (1937 - 1952)

Beginning in 1945, the Royal Canadian Mint was able to achieve a more brilliant appearance to their silver dollar strikes. This was due to the use of chromium-plated coinage dies. For previous issues unplated dies with a rougher surface had been used.

1952 Canadian Silver Dollar Varieties

In 1952 a modified reverse, with No Water Lines at all, was put into use. In addition to removing the water lines, this reverse differs from the Water Lines variety in having a remodeled (larger) islet tip at the right end of the canoe. These variety are fundamentally different from the Arnpriors in that is was deliberately, not accidentally created.

Obverse

Coin depicts the design of King George VI with the Latin inscription:
GEORGIVS VI D:G:REX ET IND:IMP: meaning "George VI, by the grace of God, the King and Emperor of India."

Reverse

Features a modern design by sculptor Emanuel Hahn, showing an Indian and a voyageur, a travelling agent for a fur company, paddling a canoe by an islet on which therer are two wind-swept trees. In the canoe are bundles of goods; the bundle at the right has HB, representing the Hudson's Bay Company. The vertical lines in the background represet the northern lights.
