1992 (1867-) Canadian 25-Cent Manitoba Confederation 125th Anniv/Provincial Quarter Proof Sterling Silver Coin

Manitoba's Provincial 25-cent coin depicts the Southwest Bastion of Lower Fort Garry and part of its surrounding wall. The fort was established by the Hudson's Bay Company as an administrative centre to replace the original Fort Garry, severly damaged by the flood of 1826. The fort was subsequently donated to Canada and became a National Historic Park in 1951.

Design

The obverse design features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 64 years old, wearing a new crown, surrounded by the Latin inscription "ELIZABETH II D. G. REGINA". This was the first effigy to be designed by a Canadian, Dora de Pédery-Hunt.

For the 125th Anniversary of Canada's Confederation, twelve new 25-cent obverses were designed (one released each month) honouring the ten provinces and two terroitories.

Packaging

1992 (1867-) Canadian 25-Cent Manitoba Confederation 125th Anniv/Provincial Quarter Proof Sterling Silver Coin comes encapsulated in Royal Canadian Mint clamshell case lined with flock, 125th anniversary commemorative sleeve and special insert / Certificate of Authenticity.
