1996 Canadian $2 Certified Test Token Toonie & COA
In 1996, the new $2 coin will be introduced and the $2 bank note will no longer be produced. Before the Royal Canadian Mint could release the $2 coin into general circulation, test tokens were produced to the industries affected by the change for testing purposes. Quantities for sale are limited to 20,000 test tokens worldwide.
This rarely seen test token is an exclusive collector's item which is now part of Canadian currency history.
Design
Struck on this bi-metallic token are the words "TEST TOKEN" and "ROYAL CANADIAN MINT" on the outer ring and three maple leaves on the inner core.

1996 Canadian $2 Test Token comes encapsulated with Certificate of Authenticity # / 20,000 and original Royal Canadian Mint issue box.
